Rethinking the Textile Sector and Sustainable Fashion
The Resotex project – “Rethinking the Textile Sector and Sustainable Fashion” – aims to promote entrepreneurship and economic diversification in cross-border regions by enhancing the textile sector, whilst taking sustainability and the circular economy into account.
Funded by the INTERREG VI-A Spain-Portugal (POCTEP) Programme 2021/2027, with a budget of 2.6 million euros, 75 per cent of which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), RESOTEX aims to implement measures promoting sustainability in the textile sector. The project’s activities are scheduled to be completed by 31 December 2026.
RESOTEX comprises a number of general actions, such as conducting a sectoral assessment, drawing up a research plan on locally available sustainable materials, and establishing Cross-Border Centres to support sustainable production in various locations. Led by the Diputación de Cáceres, the project involves the collaboration of 13 organisations, associations and companies from the textile, fashion and textile waste management sectors in Spain and Portugal. This consortium plays a key role in transferring knowledge and know-how in the textile sector to the cross-border region.
