Project Summary
Nowadays, it is essential to establish a link between education and vocational training systems and the labour market, given the high rates of unemployment, particularly among young people. Several EU countries have already implemented measures to provide practical work experience within companies as part of the vocational training system. Many of these initiatives are regional in scope and are pilot schemes, or are at an early stage of implementation and still require some aspects to be fine-tuned. This results in a fragmentation of models, not only at European level but also at national level, which makes it more difficult to carry out comparative analysis and assess the impact of the different strategies.
This assessment led four partners from a previous European innovation transfer project in the textile and fashion sector to draw up this proposal, with the aim of benchmarking existing resources and developing more effective tools to help resolve the current situation. The partnership has been extended to include a further five partners, who are collaborating together for the first time. The participating countries are Spain, Italy, Portugal and the Czech Republic, for which the textile industry is a key pillar of their economies.
Partners:
Association of Clothing and Fashion Companies of the Community of Madrid (ES)
Formacion y Educacion Integral (ES)
Community of Madrid (ES)
ATP – Portuguese Textile and Clothing Association (PT)
MODATEX – Vocational Training Centre for the Textile, Clothing, Garment and Wool Industries (PT)
ATP – Portuguese Textile and Clothing Association (PT)
MODATEX – Professional Training Centre for the Textile, Clothing, Confection and Wool Industry (PT)
ATOK – Association of the Textile, Clothing and Wool Industry (CZ) Textile Testing Institute (CZ) Made in Vicenza (IT)
CONFORM – Consultancy, Training and Management (IT)
The partnership includes experts in vocational education and training, sector representatives from the textile industry, as well as educational institutions responsible for the regulation and implementation of vocational education and training.
The MODATOP (Moda Training on Practice) project will be developed in line with the vocational education and training frameworks of the participating countries, incorporating practical vocational training sessions within companies, with the aim of benchmarking the resources and methods used in vocational training schools and companies within the textile sector, which support the efforts of trainers and tutors during practical training sessions.
Tools will be developed to complement existing resources for trainers and tutors in the textile and fashion sector, including: (i) a Guide to Recommendations for trainers and tutors; (ii) an online recognition tool to recognise the learning outcomes achieved during practical sessions, in collaboration with vocational training schools.
The project aims to directly involve around 150 stakeholders who will participate in the development of the project’s intellectual outputs and help to promote the results throughout its duration, with the aim of reaching 2,500 representatives from three target groups: trainers and trainees from vocational education and training schools participating in dual certification schemes in the textile and fashion sector; companies in the sector that host or are interested in hosting vocational education and training trainees; policy-makers and institutions responsible for designing and implementing vocational education and training systems that incorporate practical work experience within companies.
MODATOP is a European project, funded by the ERASMUS+ Programme, with a duration of 24 months, having commenced in November 2016.
